Scent-specific trailing follows the scent of one living person. The dog initially identifies that person's scent from a scent article. The scent article can range from clothing to an automobile, to a watch or keys, and optimally it contains the scent of the missing person only.
Human Remains Recovery
Human remains recovery dogs are trained to identify the scent of decomposed human remains. They are able to discriminate between human and animal decomposition, and are trained to indicate to their handler when they have detected the scent of human remains decomposition.
Water recovery dogs are trained to detect human odor in many depths and types of water. Water recovery dogs work from a boat on lakes, ponds, streams and rivers. They are trained for both long and short term recovery.
